SUMMARY

The Technical Editor is responsible for reviewing and editing technical documents, such as user manuals, research papers, reports, and technical specifications. Ensures the content is accurate, clear, and concise, and that it adheres to the Naval Warfare Center Training Systems Division style guidelines.This full-time position is 100% remote.

Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Prior U.S. Navy or other U.S. Military experience, preferred.

Experience working in Agile teams with process management tools like Jira, preferred.

Familiarity with U.S. Navy AIM II Learning Object Module (LOM), preferred.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reviews technical documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors.

Conducts fact-checking and cross-referencing to ensure accuracy, consistency and follow's the organization's style guidelines. Reviews documents with industry standards and regulations. With some supervision, makes the necessary edits.

Verifies the accuracy of technical information and data presented in the documents.

May collaborate with subject matter experts to clarify complex technical concepts and ensure clarity in the content.

Organizes and structures information in a logical manner to enhance readability.

Checks references, citations, and sources to ensure accuracy and credibility.

May collaborate with writers and authors to improve the overall quality of the documents.

Assists with creating templates, style guides and other resources to support the writing process

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of zero to two (0-2) years' of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.

The estimated pay range for this role is $40 to $44, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
