Your Role:

The Technician Machinist 2 at MilliporeSigma in Bellefonte, Pa will:

  • Performs a variety of tasks in the production and repair of metal and plastic parts.
  • Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools according to standard operating procedures - includes engine lathe, turret lathe, milling machine, automatic turret lathe, CNC lathes, CNC mill, saws, and grinders.
  • Operates a variety of hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Produces metal and plastic parts to close tolerances as directed. May be required to make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, selection of materials, equipment required, speeds of machining, etc.
  • Develops operation sequences and recommends changes to machining processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Determines set-up and fixturing requirements in alternate methods of machining.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and well-organized work area.
Physical Requirements:
  • Lift up to 50 pounds and perform pushing and pulling
  • May involve standing for extended periods of time
  • Vision within normal limits
  • May involve use of hearing protection
  • Use of hands to grasp and manipulate objects and demonstrate small, precise movements
  • Use of ladders and steps

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 + years of experience with CNC machines

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • 1+ year of work experience in an industrial setting
  • 3+ years of experience working with CNC machines.
  • Prior experience operating lab equipment such as: balances, vacuum pumps, and ovens.
  • High attention to detail
  • Proficiency with computers
  • Capable of working independently or in small groups
  • Legible handwriting
  • Follow and read technical instructions including engineering drawings
  • Working knowledge of standard machine shop measuring instruments and inspection methods
  • Perform basic math calculations
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of drafting
