The Staff Nurse will be responsible for providing nursing support and care to patients in the BWH Division of Urology:
TRIAGE DESK: Monitoring and responding to incoming messages and patient phone calls. Possible option for remote triage work.
1. Accountable for responding to EPIC in-basket messages, provider concerns, reporting test results, and phone triage as clinically indicated. A standard communication framework such as SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation) should be used to ensure accurate and essential information is transferred as it relates to the patient's plan of care.
2. Escalating messages when clinically required.
3. Collaborating with clinical staff including, Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Administration.
4. Performing all other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the position and according to the needs of the clinic.
5. Working collaboratively to provide excellent care to patients and families in the safest environment.
CLINICAL CARE: Providing direct patient care in Ambulatory clinic setting under the guidance of a LIP.
1. Accountable for direct patient care including but not limited to: post operative assessments/ care, tube care, urgent appointments, patient education, providing pre procedure medications and assessments.
2. Escalating care when clinically appropriate
3. Collaborating with clinical staff including, Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, Medical Assistants and Administration.
4. Performing all other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the position and according to the needs of the clinic.
5. Working collaboratively to provide excellent care to patients and families in the safest environment
