On the Customer Experience Engineering team at Walmart Labs, we provide technology to power shopping journeys that help hundreds of millions of customers live better - be it busy families getting groceries easily, new parents welcoming a new baby, organizing a new home or anyone planning a fun party. Discovery Frontend team is looking for a Software Engineer to join the team responsible for delivering great experiences that scale to billions of queries for millions of products across Walmart sites and mobile apps. This collaborative team made up of engineering, UX, product management, analytics, along with web and technology evangelists, is rapidly iterating new products and site features at scale. We deliver high performing solutions on our next generation front-end platform, Electrode (Node.js and React). Continuous innovation and immediate feedback by billions of customers makes this work incredibly exciting!

What you'll do:

  • Leading in the creation of business, consumer, and associate product experiences.

  • Working without close supervision but seek out and welcome feedback from senior UX leaders and managers.

  • Thinking holistically - about the people using our products, a cohesive design system, and end to end experiences.

  • Solving complex problems and work with others with the same passion, to collaborate and merge solutions into a larger structure and create a cohesive design ecosystem.

  • Switching gears from deep design thinking to rapid-fire execution

What you'll bring:

  • 4 years' experience designing for multiple platforms and operating systems.

  • 4 years' experience gathering business requirements, site assessments, competitive analysis, and secondary research.

  • 4 years' experience partnering with cross-functional teams to launch new products and improve existing product features.

  • 2 years' experience utilizing strategic product thinking and vision.

  • 2 years' experience directing a cross-functional team through the product design process to launch.

  • Experienced creating for mobile native experiences and or strong foundation of mobile design principles, standards, and practices.

  • You can craft experiences for any channel or platform, with a passion for building in the ecommerce space.

  • You have a constant drive to stay up to date with the latest industry news and developments.

  • You express your design point of view and openly advocate for another team member's design.

  • You thrive on collaboration - be it with other designers, business partners, product owners or engineering.

  • Experience in product design and or a portfolio that demonstrates how you design to solve for both business requirements and customer needs.

  • Knowledge Figma: creating components, prototyping, creating excellent handoff ready files for development, etc.

  • Ability to communicate concepts to audiences of all levels of understanding.

  • Track record of deploying user interface standards and conventions, functional communication flows and dynamic, engaging interfaces

  • Strong understanding of design theory and concepts to create effective visual communication with hierarchy and balance (typography, color, space, contrast)

  • The ability to work with design templates and patterns to create and maintain a scalable and consistent website.

  • Ability to produce great work in short timeframes, multi-task across different projects and platforms and adapt to the ever-changing priorities of the eCommerce business.

  • Excellent presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Experience with business requirement gathering, site assessment, competitive analysis, and secondary research.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Programs range from high school completion to bachelor's degrees, including English Language Learning and short-form certificates. Tuition, books, and fees are completely paid for by Walmart.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
