POSITION SUMMARY

Leads Business Development and Marketing for a business unit/group by developing and managing strategies to increase revenue and support the unit's business plan. May lead other business development associates. Able to develop strategic director for a Market or Business Unit related to business development. Leverages lessons learned to improve overall business development outcomes. Assists in developing new and next generation of associates.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead/Opportunity Generation

  • Researches the market and potential clients, businesses and partners.
  • Identifies and engages with key customers, partners, individuals and/or organizations that the company needs to have stronger relationships with and helps make that happen.
  • Ensures that leads are being generated through contacting customers, networking and civic engagement.
  • Evaluates the quality of identified opportunities.
  • Meets with and facilitates introductions with customers, company executives, and other key partners to create "zipper" relationship.
  • Identifies ultimate decision makers (UDM), influencers, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitates Sales meetings with leadership providing key updates.
  • Facilitates and manages the Go/No-Go process.
  • Follows best practices for CRM utilization.

Winning Work (Pursuits/RFP/RFQ)
  • Leads team in positioning, developing proposals, interviews and follow up strategies to best position company to win.
  • Research industry trends, barriers to entry, key stakeholders, economic forecasts, competitors, governmental legislation, and other relevant indicators.
  • Research potential client, businesses, partners, etc. to assist in developing pursuit strategy.
  • Engages project team and C-level support in the "zippering" process.
  • Meets with ultimate decision makers (UDM), influencers, and other stakeholders and understands their hot buttons.
  • Leads responses to RFQ/Ps and the proposal effort by participating in strategy and prep meetings.
  • Plays active leadership role in positioning, developing and delivering proposals, participates in interviews and follow up strategies to secure the win.

Community and Industry Engagement
  • Advocates and helps position company in key civic, industry, business and public sectors.
  • Develops strategy to ensure effective communication with key governmental constituent and builds / leverages political relationships.
  • Engaged at senior level with key civic and industry-specific groups.
  • Advocates and builds relationships at the C-Suite level across the market(s).
  • Oversees budget related to events, donations and sponsorships specific to the market.
  • Ensures tracking of public budgets and incentives.

Strategy
  • Ensures that wins and losses are analyzed to identify trends, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Works with BD team, directors, executives, market leaders and business unit leaders to develop and maintain annual BD plans including sales, revenue and market share goals.
  • Leads teams to establish differentiation strategies to better position company to win, gain market share, and grow.
  • Acts as expert in current market trends and aligns company strategy to win in current market conditions.
  • Manages pipeline statistics, market data, and other trends and sales information.
  • Assists with or leads development of market or unit sales goals.

Leadership
  • Helps drive market focus, ownership and accountability for results in accordance with annual business plans.
  • Maintains healthy relationship with other VPs across the organization.
  • Helps lead and influence company initiatives and focus groups.
  • Leads the customer experience initiative and drives accountability within market or unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements before going into job)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Proven track record in:
  • Leadership -developing, mentoring, and leading a high-performing business development team.
  • Strategic Skills -developing, presenting, and executing market sector strategies and business plans.
  • Lead Management Skills - generating, qualifying, and managing leads.
  • Civic Engagement - willingness and aptitude for representing McCownGordon in the Wichita community.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position requires work in an office environment.
