The Jesse H. Jones School of Business at Texas Southern University is accepting applications for a Visiting Instructor of Accounting with an emphasis in Principles of Accounting and Intermediate Accounting who is competent in instructing students. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree/Doctoral ABD in Accounting or related discipline from an AACSB-accredited Program. This is a 9-month visiting position with teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate level. Courses will be assigned based on the education and/or professional qualifications.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:Ability to mentor and relate well with students

• Teach undergraduate courses in Accounting.
• Enhance teaching, conducting scholarly research, and/or rendering professional services to a level necessary for the maintenance of the School's SACS and AACSB accreditation.
• Active participation in departmental, school and university committees.
• Service to one's profession and the surrounding community.
• Advise, recruit, retain, and mentor students.
• Maintain engagement with appropriate accounting professionals and professional organizations.
• Assist with curriculum development and licensing opportunities for students in accounting.
• Coordinate all activities in the accounting/accounting-related disciplines.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.by department chair and Dean.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of Master's degree/Doctoral ABD in Accounting or related discipline from an AACSB-accredited Program.

Any professional license in accounting will be desirable.

Knowledge of:

Preferred:Strong educational and corporate experience in the accounting area is preferred. Previous experience in the development and teaching of university curricula in the general area of accounting is strongly preferred.
